BEI makes sensors for Asian market

Aug. 27, 2002 — BEI Technologies Inc., a San Francisco-based maker of sensors, motors and actuators, said it has launched production of micromachined sensors for automotive applications.

BEI is making GyroChip angular rate sensors for Akebono Brake Industry Co. Ltd., a Japanese automotive supplier. The sensors will be integrated into stability and dynamic control systems of vehicles beginning this fall, BEI said in a news release.

The sensors will be developed for vehicles in Japan and several Southeast Asian countries.
