Medrad expands manufacturing to China

NOV. 27–INDIANOLA, PA–Medrad Inc.’s disposable syringes, which are used medical imaging procedures, have been assembled and shipped from Dong Guan, Guangdong, China, marking the first time Medrad syringes have been manufactured overseas.

Up to five percent of Medrad’s syringes will eventually be made by Vincent Raya (Dong Guan) Electronics Co., Ltd., which manufactures a variety of medical devices in China on an original equipment manufacturer basis.

A team of Medrad employees has worked with Vincent over the past 18 months to design and build an ISO Class 8 cleanroom facility, train employees and implement quality standards comparable to those at Medrad’s headquarters. The facility is ISO certified, and will produce disposable syringes for use in computed tomography and angiography medical imaging procedures.

The current annual growth rate of these procedures in Asia/Middle East is estimated at seven to eight percent and output at the new Medrad facility will expand as procedure rates increase.

Medrad will continue to partner with Congo Industries Ltd., a subsidiary of Elite Industrial Holdings, Ltd., which distributed Medrad products in China for 10 years.
