Johnson Controls launches facility benchmarking tool

MAY 20–MILWAUKEE–Johnson Controls Inc. is asking executives and facility management professionals to log on to its. web site, www.johnsoncontrols.com, and complete a questionnaire on its Johnson Controls Facility Insite Tool (FIT), which enables organizations to gauge their facility spending against the performance of life sciences facilities managed by Johnson Controls.

Those who complete the FIT online questionnaire will receive a customized analysis of their company’s spending in nine categories: facility administration, custodial services, maintenance, security, utility and energy services, electricity, heat, water and food service. A hard copy of the benchmarking analysis from Johnson Controls can be expected within one week of completing the online questionnaire.

“Through our facility management consulting with pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, we’ve learned that very few companies have a clear picture of how their facility costs compare to other world-class facilities,” said Kai-Chuk Tse, marketing manager of life sciences for Johnson Controls. “Increasing facility performance and reducing the associated costs creates a real competitive advantage that assists these companies in meeting and exceeding their overall business objectives.”

Johnson Controls estimates, the life sciences facilities it manages consistently outperform the industry average for all U.S. facilities in the following areas:

*Annual maintenance expenditures per square foot for administrative buildings are up to 40 percent less.

*Annual electricity expenditures per square foot for manufacturing buildings are up to 10 percent less.

*Annual water and sewer expenditures per square foot for research and development buildings are up to 40 percent less.
