Asahi Kasei sets up South Korean subsidiary to sell pellicles

October 5, 2004 – Asahi Kasei Corp. said it has set up a wholly owned subsidiary in South Korea to boost sales of pellicles. The new subsidiary will start operating on Nov. 1, aiming to post 2 billion yen in sales in fiscal 2005 ending in March 2006, reported Kyodo News International.

Asahi Kasei’s wholly owned electronics arm, Asahi Kasei EMD Corp., set up Asahi Kasei EMD Korea Corp. in Suwon last month, capitalized at about 80 million yen.
The new company will enable Asahi Kasei to deliver pellicles more efficiently to its customers in South Korea, where demand for pellicles is expanding rapidly due to rising production of LCD screens for products such as cellphones and notebook computers.

Asahi Kasei has been selling pellicles in South Korea since 1999.
