Nanomix issued hydrogen storage patent

Jan. 17, 2005 — Nanomix Inc., an Emeryville, Calif., company commercializing a line of nanoelectronic sensors for industrial and biomedical applications, announced it was issued an additional U.S. patent related to hydrogen storage technology.

The latest patent, no. 6,834,508 issued in late December, is the third in a group of patents that comprise the company’s hydrogen storage portfolio. The patent describes the storage of hydrogen using novel nanostructured materials.

David Macdonald, Nanomix’s president and CEO, said in a prepared statement that the latest advancements allow hydrogen fuel to be stored at a much higher temperature than liquid hydrogen and at a lower pressure than conventional methods, resulting in reduced energy system weight and cost.
