In Q1 2005, worldwide semiconductor equipment bookings were US$7.25 billion, 21% below the same period one year ago and 12% below the bookings figure for Q4 2004, SEMI also reports.
(May 12, 2005) Hsinchu, Taiwan — ChipMOS Technologies’ 70% owned subsidiary, ChipMOS Technologies Inc. (ChipMOS Taiwan), is prolonging its long-term agreement with Himax Technologies Inc. through 2008, having worked together since 2003.
Under the terms of the contract, Himax has revised its future requirements of tape-carrier-package/chip-on-film (TCP/COF) with a significant increase in demand to ChipMOS, and will shift additional percentage increases of its chip-on-glass (COG) business to ChipMOS. ChipMOS Taiwan plans to reserve the required capacity for LCD driver IC assembly and testing services for Himax until the end of 2008.
