Maxtek adds component test and COTS screening for military, space, commercial aerospace markets

(March 24, 2010) BEAVERTON, OR — Maxtek Components Corporation will offer component test and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) screening for military, space, and commercial aerospace applications through the Component Test organization of Sypris Test & Measurement. Maxtek now provides component testing, including electrical and package integrity testing, COTS up-screening, qualification, and characterization. These complement Maxtek’s full-custom ASIC design, package development, assembly, and test services.

Maxtek is a Tektronix Company and a provider of turnkey IC packaging services with a focus on custom, challenging microelectronics, where critical performance factors are managed to tight tolerances. Sypris Test & Measurement, acquired by Tektronix in October 2009, is a leading provider of calibration services, testing and component sourcing services, and specialty products.

With this addition to Maxtek’s service offering, customers can source their projects to one vendor for various services. Using Maxtek’s turnkey services can save customers the time and expense required to qualify multiple vendors for complementary microelectronic capabilities, while improving quality for high-reliability and mission-critical products.

"Our new service will help customers streamline their supplier qualification with one-stop shopping from Maxtek," said Tom Buzak, president, Maxtek Components Corporation. "We’re able to perform up-screening COTS parts, address obsolescence issues through custom development, and develop new devices for next-generation systems."

"Maxtek now directly manages the component test assets and engineering talent of the Sypris Test & Measurement sites in Orlando and Phoenix, acquired by Tektronix in 2009," added Jeffrey Dick, director of sales & marketing, Maxtek. "We’re pleased to offer customers a much broader array of turnkey services, from COTS to custom devices, all tested to mil-spec standards. We’ll bring our lean manufacturing principles to all parts of our component test organization to improve quality, speed turnaround time and lower cost."

To meet the stringent standards of the military, space and commercial aerospace markets, Maxtek’s component test quality compliance and laboratory approvals include ISO-9001, DSCC Lab Suitability, MIL-STD-202/750/883/1580, MIL-PRF-19500/38534/38535, and J-STD/JEDEC/EIA. Test service offerings also include destructive physical analysis (DPA) and prohibited materials analysis (PMA).
