Intel/AMD Lawsuit Could Impact Semiconductor Industry

08/01/2005  Nashua, N.H. — It could take years to play out, but the eventual outcome of a lawsuit filed in a Delaware court this summer could have a profound impact on the future of the semiconductor industry. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is suing Intel, the world's largest producer of microprocessors. AMD, Intel's chief rival, charges that the chip giant regularly uses aggressive marketing practices that exercise a monopoly-like hold on the business.

Global Semiconductor Sales Up in First Half of 2005; June Sales Drop 0.5%

08/01/2005  San Jose, Calif. — June 2005's worldwide semiconductor sales reflected a slight decline to $18.0 billion, a 0.5% sequential decline from the $18.1 billion reported in May, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) reports. However, June 2005 sales were up by 0.8% from the $17.8 billion reported in June 2004.
