A Lot to Report

A Lot to Report

John Haystead

Editor-in-Chief

No question about it, the contamination control business is nothing if not busy right now. And, things here at CleanRooms magazine are no exception. We may be into Fall, but Spring is in the air with new products and activities. One important accomplishment we`d like to report is our much-expanded Internet “home page.” If you haven`t checked us out lately, there`s lots of new reasons to surf on over to (cleanrooms.com). The most significant new feature is a referenceable-by-topic editorial index of all CleanRooms articles and news stories. We`re not too modest to say that we think this new capability will be an invaluable reference tool for all contamination-control professionals.

CleanRooms magazine is also proud to be the sponsor of what should be a landmark industry event at CleanRooms West (Santa Clara, CA, Oct. 30 – Nov. 1). The “Ultrapure Gas and Gas Delivery Systems” Conference, keynoted by Prof. Tadahiro Ohmi (Tohoku University) and chaired by Dr. Sowmya Krishnan (Ultra Clean Technology) is delivering an impressive lineup of speakers and topics on this critically important contamination control technology area.

I`m happy to announce two new members of the CleanRooms Editorial Advisory Board. Richard Matthews is President of Filtration Technology, Inc. (Greensboro, NC) and Chairman of the newly formed International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee (ISO/TC209). And, Dr. Theodore Labuza, Professor of Food Science and Technology at the University of Minnesota, who will help further strengthen CleanRooms` commitment to covering the growing use of contamination control technology and practices in the food processing and packaging industries. In the same vein, CleanRooms will be exhibiting for the first time at the Dairy & Food Industries Supply Association (DFISA) and Food Processing Machinery & Supplies Association (FPM&SA) “MEGASHOW” (Nov. 4 – Nov. 8, Chicago, IL).

Even in the busiest of times, however, everybody needs to take a break for some pure fun. That`s why I`ve been asked to remind everyone attending CleanRooms West to bring, borrow or steal their most outrageous Halloween costume for the big party on Tuesday night. (Since I have to wear a costume, I`d really appreciate it if you could help me out here by participating as well. Bunny suits are acceptable.)

Nominations for the 1996 inductee to the CleanRooms Hall of Fame will also be announced at CleanRooms West. Look forward to seeing you there!
