Whitey Co. is introducing ball valves that reduce energy loss, downtime and safety hazards associated with leakage in steam systems. The valves feature spring-loaded polyetheretherketone (PEEK) seats, which maintain a leak-tight seal during pressure and temperature cycling. The two-piece chevron stem packing is also spring-loaded to compensate for pressure/temperature changes and wear.
Other features include reinforced Grafoil body seals for high temperature sealing, and encased eight-bolt construction to resist the effects of temperature cycling. Stainless steel and carbon steel valves are available in 1/4- to 2-in. sizes. Valve ratings are up to 2,500 psig at 100!F (72 bar at 288!C) for stainless steel, and 680 psia at 500!F (46 bar at 260!C) for carbon steel.
