Singapore–Contamination control professionals can explore a new venue for cleanrooms and controlled environment technologies at CleanRooms/Asia `97 next June. The newest conference addition to the CleanRooms East and West shows will feature exhibits and conferences on contamination control, data storage manufacturing and semiconductor fabrications.

The show is being sponsored by CleanRooms and Data Storage magazines at the Raffles Exhibition Center. “The first annual CleanRooms/Asia Show is being presented in recognition of the hypergrowth of interest in contamination control technology, products and services in Southeast Asia,” says Adam Japko, Group Vice President of PennWell Publishing Co.`s Electronics Group.

Current statistics indicate that the world disk drive industry is concentrated in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, and that these three countries produce over 50 percent of the world`s disk drives. The total installed square footage of disk drive cleanroom space in the three countries is currently 2 million square feet, with industry estimates of 5 million square feet by the year 2000. Total Asian disk drive cleanroom space will be 6.8 million square feet–much of it in Penang–by the year 2000. In Singapore, 45,000 disk drive cleanroom workers will be employed by the year 2000.

CleanRooms/Asia `96 will be held in conjunction with Data Storage/Asia `97. n
