Portable, crossflow filtration system

Sartorius Corp.`s Separations Division has developed a portable crossflow filtration system with an oil-free hydraulic closure. The Sartocon 3 filter cassette holder is equipped with a closure mechanism, activated by a built-in hand pump. The system features a three-position safety valve with presets for SIP/autoclaving, processing and opening the closure. The valve protects cassettes from over-compression, and also prevents fluctuating torque valves that can accompany common thread wear. The hydraulic closure uses water instead of oil. The unit`s AISI-316L stainless steel plate equipped with a welded feed port, retentate port and two filtrate ports make it suitable for hard piping applications. The system can accommodate up to 10 cassettes, providing a membrane area of 5 to 75-ft2 and is compatible with other cassettes.
