Joint venture forms to deliver SEMI S2 and EU directives solutions

Andover, MA–Inchcape Testing Services (ITS), a worldwide testing and certification organization, and Environmental & Occupational Risk Management, Inc. (EORM), a specialist in environmental, health and safety (EH&S) consulting services, have formed a joint venture to meet the environmental, chemical, electrical and mechanical safety needs of semiconductor equipment manufacturers.

The joint venture will provide safety consultation and evaluation solutions to help semiconductor equipment manufacturers meet SEMI S2 standards and EU Directives` product safety requirements. The venture will offer semiconductor equipment manufacturers the ability to obtain risk assessment, risk management recommendations and verification of SEMI S2 and EU conformity through a single organization. The new company will be led by Andy McIntrye of EORM. The new company is scheduled to be fully operational by the end of the year, and will be comprised of engineers and experts from ITS and EORM.

SEMI S2 is a set of safety standards and regulations created and enforced by the semiconductor industry and aimed at protecting life, property and the environment in semiconductor manufacturing settings. Recently, Sematech endorsed third-party review of SEMI S2 standards as the best means of ensuring broad compliance and workplace safety. In the EU, legislative documents known as “Directives” establish product safety requirements relating to the semiconductor equipment manufacturing industry.
