Millipore acquires Amicon Separation Sciences Business

Bedford, MA–Millipore Corp. has entered into an agreement to acquire the net assets of the Amicon Separation Sciences Business (Beverly, MA) of W.R. Grace & Co. for $125 million in cash. Amicon manufactures protein purification tools for the research laboratory and for biotechnology manufacturing. Says C. William Zadel, Millipore`s chairman and CEO, “The acquisition will strengthen us throughout what we call `the protein pipeline,` the process of discovering, developing, scaling up and manufacturing new therapeutics.”
