Ultrapure water market to reach $3 billion by 2001

Northbrook, IL — Sales of systems to provide ultrapure water to the power, semiconductor, pharmaceutical and other industries around the world will more than double over the next six years and reach an annual level of $3.2 billion per year by 2001, is the prediction made by The McIlvaine Company in its new report, World Ultrapure Water Markets 1997-2001. The report forecasts that the semiconductor market will be the largest segment, with worldwide sales of ultrapure water systems for the year 2001 of $1.8 billion. The power industry will have sales of $1 billion, followed by the pharmaceutical and flat panel display markets vying for third place, with sales of $150 million. A variety of other applications, including food, heath care and micromachining will account for $130 million in annual sales, says the report.
