$3.4 million PVD system order goes to Veeco for GMR pilot production

Veeco Instruments Inc. announced it has received an initial order for its Cymetra physical vapor deposition (PVD) system from a leading independent maker of recording heads for disk drives. The Cymetra cluster tool is part of the PVD product line Veeco recently acquired from Materials Research Corp. and will be used for manufacturing giant magneto-resistive (GMR) heads. — SES
