ESD Association approves draft standards
Rome, NY
The ESD Association, an ANSI-accredited standards development organization, has approved publication of three new draft standards. The first, ESD DS5.1-1997 (Revised): Electrostatic Discharge Sensitivity Testing: Human Body Model, provides a method for testing, evaluating, and classifying the ESD sensitivity of electronic components to a defined human body model. The other two documents pertain to measurements of floor materials and footwear. DS54.1-1996, Floor Materials and Footwear-Resistance Measurement in Combination with a Person, tests for the electrical resistance of floor materials, footwear, and personnel taken together as a system. The second, DS54.2-1996, Floor Materials and Footwear-Voltage Measurement on a Person, measures the electrostatic voltage on a person in combination with floor materials and footwear.
