IES unveils new moniker: IEST
By Susan English-Seaton
Mount Prospect, IL — By a vote of 98 percent of its members, effective August 7, the 47-year-old Institute of Environmental Sciences will now be known as the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST) to reflect the Institute`s focus on the application of science to industry through technology, the group claims. A complaint of prior ownership was lodged about a year and a half ago by the Illuminating Engineering Society, which had prior rights to the acronym “IES,” prompting the Institute to look at alternative names/letter combinations.
