BOC Gases leads project for $1 billion Mexican nitrogen complex

A multinational consortium lead by BOC Gases has been awarded a 15-year nitrogen supply contract by Pemex Exploracion y Produccion (Pemex), the exploration and production arm of Petroleos Mexicanos, the national oil company of Mexico. The consortium`s $1 billion project entails building, operating and owning the world`s largest nitrogen generation complex near Ciudad del Carmen. The consortium consists of BOC, Marubeni Corp. of Japan, Westcoast Energy Inc. of Canada, Linde AG of Germany, and ICA Fluor Daniel S. de R.L. de C.V. of Mexico. The facility is expected to come on-line in early 2000. — LAK
