New applications slated to boost cleanroom sales

Northbrook, IL

The McIlvaine Co. predicts that new industry segments, such as flat panel displays (FPD), will cause cleanroom sales to rise by $1.7 billion in 2000. Traditional cleanroom markets such as semiconductor and pharmaceutical industries account for the lion`s share of cleanroom sales today, but the FPD market will displace the pharmaceutical industry as the second largest cleanroom segment by 2000, according to McIlvaine. The disk drive industry will also invest more heavily in cleanrooms than in the pharmaceutical industry. — LAK
