Kappler, 3M augment partnership to develop protective apparel market

Guntersville, AL

Kappler Protective Apparel & Fabrics has broadened its standing agreement with 3M to develop markets for microporous breathable barrier film products. The company recently acquired most of the gown converting equipment from the 3M Medical-Surgical Division as well as a supply agreement for 3M`s microporous products specifically designed for healthcare markets. In January 1997, 3M gave Kappler exclusive global rights to industrial markets for the same microporous film products. Under the new agreement, Kappler will market gowns similar to the 3M design and made of microporous components supplied through 3M`s Personal Care & Related Products Division. 3M and Kappler own patents on the only two disposable microporous fabrics that have been proven to meet OSHA`s stringent requirements for preventing the transmission of blood and viral contaminants. — TGW
