Haavind receives Crain Award

Bob Haavind, editor in chief of Solid State Technology, CleanRooms` sister publication, has been named recipient of the 1998 Crain Award, which is presented by the American Business Press for “outstanding career contributions to the development of editorial excellence.”

This year marks the 30th presentation of the award, which is named after G.D. Crain Jr., a distinguished business publication editor and the founder of Business Marketing and Advertising Age.

Like other award winners, Haavind has used his position in the publishing world to draw out the full implications of technical advances and their productive uses in American industry. His career spans almost 40 years, from the inception of semiconductors and computers to present-day microelectronics technology.

He is also the recipient of two Neal Awards. — TGW
