BFGoodrich forms new static control entity

BFGoodrich Co.`s Specialty Plastics Group has developed a business entity to provide static protection: the Static Control Polymers Business. The company will develop permanent static control materials using a proprietary inherently dissipative polymer. Combining the company`s Stat-Rite ESD materials business and the activities of Mitech Corp., which it acquired in 1996, the new business will manufacture materials for the disk drive and cleanroom industries, as well as the electronics packaging, material handling, and hose, tubing and wire and cable industries. Three product lines will be marketed: Stat-Rite polymer alloys, Hipscon carbon-filled sheet, and a carbon-fiber-filled compound line.
