Fanuc introduces robot that withstands washdowns

Rochester Hills, MI

Fanuc Robotics North America Inc. has introduced the A-520I Washdown, a robot designed for precise, high-speed operation in the harsh, washdown environments of food and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. The robot features a 36-inch reach and a 20-kg (44 pound) payload and is capable of performing applications such as meat packaging, dairy packing, machine loading, item transfer and case packing. “The A-520i Washdown meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact, which is a necessity for food companies,” said Mark Handelsman, director of product and applications engineering, Fanuc Robotics. “In addition, the A-520I`s external surface is chemically resistant to prevent corrosion, which is a key benefit to companies involved in food or drug handling.” — SES
