IEST announces 1998 award winners

The Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology recently announced the winners of its annual awards program. Sixteen awards were presented to professionals in various fields, with recognition also given to nine 25-year members. Recipients of contamination control-related honors were Anne Marie Dixon and Dr. John J. Scialdone, who were both designated as 1998 Fellows of the IEST for their vital contributions to the advancement of the institute and the environmental sciences. Halsey B. Chenoweth was honored posthumously with the Monroe Seligman Award for his years of contributions to the IEST and for his dedication to the advancement of science. One of the two James R. Mildon awards presented went to Harold A. Smith for lifetime personal dedication and contributions to the advancement of contamination control through teachings, writings and promotion in the field. The Maurice Simpson Technical Editors Award for Contamination Control was presented to Kurt Christenson for his paper, Rinsing: A Critical Process in Contamination Removal, which was published in the September/October 1997 issue of the IEST`s Journal. — TGW
