Praxair announces surcharge, signs $7.5 million contract

Danbury, CT

To offset higher power and distribution costs across the country, Praxair, Inc. has imposed a 5 to 10 percent surcharge on merchant argon, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen, which will remain effective through the beginning of October. Specific surcharges may vary depending on customers` local supply conditions and contract terms. Company officials say the action is necessary to ensure uninterrupted product supply.

Praxair has also agreed to provide helium and nitrogen to Toshiba America Medical Systems to use in its magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems. The contract is valued at $7.5 million. — TGW
