FSI to acquire YieldUp

FSI International Inc. (Chaska, MN) is acquiring YieldUp International Corp. (Sunnyvale, CA) to strengthen its position in the critical clean immersion market.

FSI, known for its wet cleaning capabilities, needed technology expertise in the critical clean immersion segment of the market, according to Lori Walker, FSI`s marketing manager. “YieldUp has positioned itself to be the immersion technology of the future by offering benefits such as a smaller footprint, and low chemical usage,” says Walker. The purchase allows FSI to provide products for the immersion market, spray technology, and vapor technology.

Dale Springer, YieldUp director of sales and marketing, adds, “YieldUp has a drying technology that moves beyond spinning to offer a motionless, ambient temperature drying capability.”

Completion of the acquisition is subject to approval by YieldUp shareholders. Once complete this month or next, YieldUp will operate as the immersion systems group of the FSI Surface Conditioning Division.

YieldUp manufactures cleaning, rinsing and drying equipment for semiconductor, disk drive, and flat panel display manufacturing, while FSI supplies automated process equipment used to manufacture microelectronics. — CM
