The waterfall mechanism used in this transducer for acoustic micro imaging systems rides with the transducer and delivers a constant thin screen of water — enough to maintain acoustic coupling — between the transducer and the sample. According to the manufacturer, exposure of the sample to water is greatly reduced, and potential moisture uptake is minimized. The product also helps ensure that the water used for coupling remains clean and free from contaminants.
