A new line of broadband infrared light sources for use in non-dispersive infrared gas and chemical sensor systems is now available from Ion Optics. These light sources are used in systems that monitor air quality, and that check for refrigerant leaks, combustion, and toxic gas emissions. The reflectIR line of products emit stable in-band infrared (IR) emissions for the ranges of 2 to 5 &mirco;m, 2 to 12 µm, and 2 to 20 µm, according to the manufacturer.
Available in a variety of designs, the half-inch parabolic reflector package provides increased axis power, which the manufacturer says improves the signal level reaching the detector. Ion Optics offers an evaluation kit for $245 for testing the reflectIR and other Ion products in a customer’s NDIR gas monitor system. The pulse rate, pulse height (filament temperature), and duty cycle of the reflectIR is adjustable through a Windows application. For more information contact Ion Optics at (781) 788-8777 or visit
