Maxxim Medical Manufacturers Medical Examination Glove as a Latex-alternative.

CLEARWATER, FL—A new polyurethane medical examination glove manufactured by Maxxim Medical is now available. The SensiCare Advantix PowderFree glove will not cause the life-threatening Type I allergic reaction to natural rubber latex, while offering the tactile sensitivity of latex, say company officials. The glove meets viral barrier standards and protects the wearer from bloodborne pathogens and other body fluids.

They add that the glove reduces the risk of Type IV allergic reactions associated with chemical accelerators or plasticizers. The absence of these chemical accelerators reduces the potential of allergic contact dermatitis and other forms of delayed allergic hypersensitivity, according to Maxxim. The gloves also have no offensive odor or taste.

Maxxim's SensiCare gloves contain performance polyurethane polymers named Intacta, which were developed by Dow Chemical, Inc.
