National Semiconductor Markets a Digital Temperature Sensor

National Semiconductor is marketing a digital temperature sensor that company officials say offers improved accuracy over a wider temperature range. For use in heating ventilating, air conditioning, and the other systems of the LM76CHM-5 temperature sensor has an accuracy of ±1°C, a thermal window comparator, and an I2C(R)- or SMBus-compatible serial bus interface.

At 25°C, the LM76CHM-5 achieves ±0.5°C accuracy. At over -10°C, that accuracy is ±1°C. The LM76 has an integrated temperature sensor, a 12-bit, analog-to-digital converter, and three comparators in a single IC. The manufacturer says the design is intended to simplify temperature control systems.

The sensors voltage range is 4.5 to 5.5V. Available in a SO-8 package, the LM76's price is $155 per 1000. For more information, call the customer response group (800) 272-9959 or visit http://www.national/pf/LM/LM76.html.
