COLMAN, PAA new guide describing the ultraviolet light systems available from Ultra Dynamics can be obtained from the company. In addition the brochure explains how ultraviolet light systems are used for disinfection, oxidation, and reverse osmosis. Other uses for the products mentioned include ultrafiltration, deionization, TOC reduction, and ozone destruction.
The Colman, PA-based company offers three series of lights:
- The Light Industrial series is for lower capacity, light-duty UV industrial/commercial applications. It is for flow rates of 1.5 to 30 gpm.
- The General Industrial series is for industrial/commercial level applications with flows of 24 to 100 gpm.
- The Heavy Industrial series is for high capacity processing for flows of 265 gpm and higher.
According to the manufacturer, these light systems extend the US Department of Health's requirements for ultraviolet disinfection of potable water. All of these products use ultraviolet lamps that are high intensity, low pressure, hard quartz units rated for over 9,000 hours of continuous use. Officials say each lamp is protected by a high transmission, pure fused quartz sleeve for peak dosage.
The dosages for these systems range from 30,000 to 400,000 µW-s/cm2 the manufacturers say. Officials add that most waterborne disease causing microorganisms are inactivated with a dose of 10,000 µW-s/cm2.
Ultra Dynamics is marketing the guide to the food, cosmetics, electronics, HVAC, and pharmaceutical industries.
