Corning and Nortel End Discussions

CORNING, N.Y.—July 27, 2000—Corning Inc. today said that it had terminated discussions with Nortel Networks exploring the potential combination of Nortel's optical components business with Corning. The decision was made by mutual consent, Corning said.
