Broadcom to Acquire Silicon Spice for $1.2 billion

IRVINE, Calif.—Aug. 7, 2000—Broadcom Corp. a provider of broadband communications ICs, today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Silicon Spice for 5 million shares of its common stock, valued at about $1.2 billion.
