HUDDERSFIELD, ENGLANDBulk powder handling systems supplier Extract Technology Ltd. and its subsidiaries have been acquired by Carlisle Companies Inc. (Syracuse, NY).
Although terms of the transaction were not disclosed, Extract, which also manufactures downflow booths, isolation systems and modular pharmaceutical facilities, joins Carlisle Barrier Systems (New Lisbon, WI) and will be renamed Carlisle Pharmaceutical Systems.
The combined organizations, which include Extract's subsidiaries in Somerset, NJ, and Aleysford, England, will focus on building containment systems for potent compounds, barrier isolation systems for sterile and parenteral compounds and pharmaceutical facilities with cleanrooms.
“The acquisition will give us the financial backing and permit the combined companies to develop larger-scale projects,” says Martyn Ryder, managing director of Extract. “We are very internationally focused, and now we have the Carlisle product line to introduce to our customer base.”
Extract will provide the foundation for a global expansion in specialized systems and equipment in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, says Michael J. Kays, president of Carlisle Pharmaceuticals.
