Consortium Targets Debugging of Advanced Device Designs

San Jose, California–Sept. 29, 2000–International SEMATECH, a consortium of semiconductor manufacturers, has chosen Knights Technology, a division of Electroglas, Inc., to commercially develop an advanced software tool for locating the physical origins of faults in integrated random-logic circuits.

Knights’ LogicMap and Merlin’s Framework will serve as the foundation to build the advanced software tool.

The project is being carried out in collaboration with Texas A&M University’s Computer Department, Texas Instruments’ Design and Test Technology Division, and International SEMATECH’s Yield Management Tools. Knights Technology will exclusively market the tool.

Veldhoven, The Netherlands–Oct. 2, 2000–ASM Lithography Holding N.V. (ASML) and Silicon Valley Group (SVG) have signed a merger agreement that creates the world’s largest provider of photolithography equipment to the semiconductor industry. Under the terms of the merger, ASML will acquire SVG in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately US$1.6 billion (EUR 1.8 billion).
