Intersil to Acquire SiCom for $200 million

IRVINE, Calif.—September 5, 2000—Intersil Corp., a supplier of communications semiconductors, today said that it has signed a binding letter of intent to acquire Scottsdale, Arizona-based SiCOM, Inc. for approximately 3.7 million shares of Class A common stock, or nearly $200 million. When completed, the acquisition will provide Intersil with a strong position in the rapidly growing broadband wireless access market, the company said.
