UA Professor Honored for Environmentally Benign Semiconductor Manufacturing

Shadman, professor of chemical engineering at UA, has saved the semiconductor manufacturing industry several millions, according to the SRC, by improving the environmental safety of industry processes. The award was given in recognition of his research in the reduction of water and energy consumption, and purification of water and gases in semiconductor manufacturing.

Santa Clara, California–Sept. 27, 2000–An investigation by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) into the business practices of the world’s largest chipmaker, Intel Corp., has been closed. The investigation, which began in 1997, covered all aspects of Intel’s operations.
