Canon Optical Products Operation to Grow

SAN JOSE, CA – Oct. 3, 2000 – Canon USA’s Semiconductor Equipment Division is undertaking a $100 million expansion of the Canon Optical Products Operations manufacturing complex in Utsunomiya, Japan. Part of the project includes a 50 percent increase in cleanroom space.

The expansion also includes an increase in manufacturing and assembly capabilities, production testing and analyzing equipment is being undertaken to increase production capacity of litho steppers, scanners, and mirror projection aligners. It is expected to provide the facility with 500-unit annual output by the end of the third quarter 2001.
