KUDANATSU, Japan — Oct. 24 — Fueled by a favorable debut of its 300mm etch systems, Hitachi America, Ltd. is planning to construct a 100,000 sq. foot electronics customer support center (e-CS) to boost worldwide customer service.
The facility, which will be located in Kudanatsu, Japan, will include approximately 28,000 sq. feet of cleanroom space, manufacturing space, networked analysis equipment and full Internet capabilities, including process simulations, remote diagnostics and a virtual lab. The center also will allow Hitachi to double the number of 300mm etch demonstration tools, network its analysis tools and increase manufacturing capabilities by 30 percent.
“The new e-CS center, combined with Hitachi America's new Semiconductor Equipment Center, will certainly provide us with some leading edge capabilities our customers here in the US expect, such as remote diagnostics,” said Semiconductor Equipment Group General Manager Craig Kerkove.
Construction on the facility is expected to be complete by March 2001.
