Assembly Tools

ASG has announced new assembly tools for use with work pieces that are sensitive to electrostatic discharge. The tools have housings that are electrically conductive. Any static present on the tool or operator's hand is conducted away from the work. The ESD-protected line includes cleanroom torque-controlled electric screwdrivers, screw presenters, screw dispensers and shock-absorbing screwdrivers for impact-sensitive products. Solvent-free Coatings

Dymax Corp. has introduced a line of solvent-free, light-curing conformal coatings. They feature heat assisted and two-part room-temperature shadow curing versions and ensure precise placement, minimum deposition and complete cure of all coating in a few seconds. The 984-LVUF coating offers a faster curing grade of UL and MIL Spec approved 984-LVF conformal coating. The 9-20557 coating features more tough and flexible properties with good adhesion to difficult solder masks. The 9-20558 coating is for flex circuits and is an encapsulant for sharp solder joints. Linear Regulator

International Rectifier has introduced the OMR9601SCK, a 3.3 to 2.5V ultra-low dropout linear regulator with a 3A capability. It features a maximum dropout voltage of 0.4V at 3A output and a 0.3V dropout at 1A output. The regulator features a remote shutdown pin that is useful for power sequencing and other control functions. The OMR9601SCK is housed in a five-pin TO-258 (MO-78AA), and comes with integrated input and output capacitors. International Rectifier, Leominster, Mass.
Pressure Transducer

The Model 522m17/19 piezoelectric pressure transducer is designed for sensing dynamic pressure fluctuations up to 500 psi, even in the presence of high static pressure and temperature. It utilizes ferro-piezoelectric ceramics in the charge mode. It features a metal-sheathed integral cable and the ability to run continuously at 1,000°F. Miniature Crystal Filter
CTS Wireless has expanded their monolithic crystal filter products to include a miniature 3.8 x 3.8-mm platform, model ATFN6024A. The narrow bandwidth filter offers increased functionality and operates in the 73 to 135 MHz range. The filter also can be customized to operate at higher frequencies to meet unique requirements. Zestron Corp.'s new ATRON SP 200 is a surfactant cleaner specifically designed to remove baked-on flux from solder pallets and condensation traps in either spray- or dip-cleaning equipment. LSI Logic has unveiled their latest organic laminate flip chip package, the FPBGA-4L. It utilizes a matrix of solder bumps on the active surface chip, which connects to the four-layer substrate. It features 100 percent differential signaling or single ended I/Os, a separate core, I/O power and ground connections, up to 12 voltage splits, enhanced thermal performance and efficient printed wiring board escape routing. Multi-chip Package

White Electronic Designs offers an 8M x 72 synchronous DRAM with 1 Mbyte flash in a multi-chip package. It is designed to complement high-performance memory controllers and operate in a 3.3V, low-power memory system. It is available at 125 and 100 MHz. Each chip is configured as a quad-bank DRAM with a synchronous interface. The 1M x 8 flash has access times of 100 to 150 ns and requires only a single 3.0V power supply for both read and write functions. VCXO Oscillators

Fox Electronics is offering a new line of VCXO oscillators. The VCXO-C3 features a metal DIP package and can be used for telecommunications, telephony and datacom applications. It features a standard stability of ±50 PPM over -10 to 70°C. The pullabilty of the VCXO-C3 is a minimum of ±100 PPM with a control voltage of 2.5V ±2V on pin 1. CyberOptics has introduced the SE 300 high-speed, high-resolution 3-D solder paste inspection system. It automatically measures height, volume, area and bridging, and notifies the operator if any parameters trend outside the user-specified limits. It features two operating modes: high-resolution and high-speed. For optimum results, both speeds can be combined in the same inspection program. SE 300 consists of one-meter wide machine designed to replace a section of standard conveyor in front of the chip-shooter feeders. No. 749 from the Grieve Corp. is an inert gas atmosphere, 1,250°F electrically heated universal oven. It has a workspace of 36 x 36 x 36 inches, with a 16-ga. stainless steel interior. 10-in. thick insulated walls are comprised of 2 inches of 1,900°F block and 8 inches of 10-lb. density insulation. It features inner and outer door gaskets, continuously welded internal seams, a water-cooled door sealing surface, a water-cooled blower shaft seal, compression-fit seals at each heating element and thermocouple penetration, positive latching door hardware, an inlet gas pressure regulator, an internal pressure gauge and an atmosphere inlet and outlet. Temporary Bonding Adhesive

Master Bond has recently developed an adhesive for temporary bonding. The MB600 is a single component, storage stable inorganic compound that features heat resistance and good adhesion to metals, ceramics, glass, most plastics and rubber. It cures readily at ambient temperatures and more quickly at elevated temperatures. It is odorless, non-toxic and non-flammable. BGA Socket Adapter

Advanced Interconnection has introduced a 0.0295-in. pitch BGA socket adapter system. It is designed as an alternative to soldering BGA devices directly to the PC board and is specifically for production applications. It is the same size as the micro-BGA package, while the adapter is only 2 mm larger, making it one of the smallest socketing systems available. The features include an adapter and socket that are the same size as the device, process yields that are equivalent to direct attach, eutectic solder ball terminals that reflow at standard solder process temperatures and availablity in tape-and-reel packaging for automated assembly. Prostat has introduced the PRS-801 Resistance System, a unique, wide-range ohmmeter that features computer communication capabilities, as well as data logging and calculating. It records and stores up to 80 measurements and calculates minimum, maximum and average of all stored data. Multiple test voltages are available in <10V, 10V and 100V ranges, which may be selected automatically by the instrument or manually by the user. Spectra-Physics has introduced a new semiconductor pumped, solid state laser that offers a combination of UV output power and repetition rate for high throughput industrial applications. The BL6-355Q delivers over 1 W of average power at 355 nm, at a repetition rate of 35 kHz. This small laser features an LBO tripling crystal that can be translated into 77 different operating positions, eliminating crystal degradation as a lifetime limiting factor. When the crystal does need to be replaced, the tripling module can be exchanged in the field without the need for optical realignment.
