SUGARLAND, Texas — Nov. 30, 2000 — Applied Optoelectronics Inc, recently completed the first phase of its move into a new manufacturing facility and already has plans to begin construction on a second building which will contain more than 50,000 square feet of cleanroom space.
“This move represents a very important milestone for AOI. We are now transforming ourselves from a great research company into a great research and manufacturing company,” said Thompson Lin, AOI’s president and CEO. “Our team is very excited about the move because, with our enhanced capabilities here, we’ll be able to accelerate product deliveries.”
The new 24,000 square foot manufacturing facility houses administrative offices, laboratories, three production lines 6,000 square feet of ISO Class 6 (Class 1,000) and ISO Class 7 (Class 10,000) cleanroom space.
The second phase of the move will begin in December when the company receives three new multi-wafer MBE systems. Those systems are expected to be operational in January.
Construction on a second facility is slated to begin in April.
