Intermec and Philips team to develop RFID technology

Everett, Washington–Nov. 14, 2000–Intermec Technologies Corp. and Philips Semiconductor have formed a partnership to define, develop, and market radio frequency identification (RFID) ICs for smart labels and tags in the 13.56 MHz, 800/900 MHz, and 2.4 GHz frequency bands. The companies will work together to promote global standards in the RFID marketplace–accelerating the development of international, interoperable identification systems for customers around the world.

Under the partnership, Philips will market Intermec’s Intellitag, used in UHF and microwave for supply chain management. Intermec will market Philips’ I-CODE IC- based labels and manufacture reader components compatible with I-CODE, ISO 15693, and future ISO 18000 standards.
