Motorola and Aura to develop wireless technology

Schaumburg, Illinois–Nov. 16, 2000–Motorola, Inc. and Wilmington, Massachusetts-based Aura Communications, Inc. have agreed to work together to expand the development and use of Aura’s short-range wireless communication technology. As part of the agreement, Motorola Ventures has made an equity investment in Aura.

“Our goal is to identify and support emerging technologies that can create new markets for Motorola,” explains Warren Holtsberg, Motorola Ventures’ corporate vice president. “We view Aura’s technology as a strategic fit for a wide range of mobile products that require robust voice and date transmissions, while keeping cost low.”

Motorola Ventures is the global, strategic venture capital investment arm of Motorola, Inc., and actively invests at early stages in developing companies of strategic value to Motorola in order to accelerate access to new technologies, markets, and talent.
