OTTAWA, Canada — Nov. 29, 2000 — Responding to a booming optical components market, Zenestra Photronics is building a 100,000 square foot headquarters and manufacturing facility that is expected to bring more than 500 jobs to Ottawa area.
The facility will include more than 66,000 square feet of cleanroom space. Currently Zenestra operates from a 55,000 sq. foot leased facility that houses a 5,000 sq. foot class 100 wafer fab.
“We’re growing aggressively to meet growing customer demand for our market-leading optical components, “said Scott Scovell, president and CEO of Zenestra. “Our optical components production methods provide us with an order of magnitude increase over conventional component manufacturing. This investment isn’t just about meeting customer demand, it is also about enhancing a source of long-term competitive advantage.”
Officials hope the new facility will cut the company’s manufacturing costs in half.
