CHESHIRE, England — SSL International recently purchased a plant near its recently expanded glove facility in Kulim, Malaysia that it plans to convert into a cleanroom and sterile packaging facility.
Officials say the new facility will tie in with the Kulim glove facility and should result in greater efficiency in both areas.
The acquisition of the new plant, located in Kuala Ketil, is part of a major investment plan implemented by SSL and its glove manufacturing arm, Regent Medical Americas, earlier this year in Malaysia.
The plan includes expanding and enhancing the glove factory and core products, adding new equipment and two dip lines and upgrading other machinery. The investment plan also calls for an increase in storage capacity and replacing packaging equipment.
The plant was purchased for an undisclosed amount of money.
