Tustin, California–TDK Semiconductor Corp., a provider of low-power high-speed communications LAN and WAN transceiver circuits, has acquired Sierra Research and Technology Inc., a Mountain View, California-based designer of intellectual property and cores for the high-speed networking and display driver markets. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“The addition of Sierra’s engineers to TDK Semiconductor will significantly add to our high-speed network product design capability, particularly in the area of Gigabit and 10 Gigabit LAN and WAN products,” says Den Suzuki, president and CEO of TDK Semiconductor. “The Sierra acquisition, which will report to our Network Business Unit, will further strengthen our strong networking market position as we approach a planned IPO launch in the second half of 2001.”
