FEB. 13 Chandler, Arizona–Amkor Technology is expanding its product test capabilities by adding two additional test development centers, located in San Jose, CA, and Wichita, KS, to its worldwide test services organization.
“With the addition of the development centers, we have enhanced the ease in which we can transfer the latest test technology from the development arena to high-volume manufacturing. Our goal is to improve our customers’ time to market for their products,” says Joe Holt, vice president of Amkor’s Worldwide Test Services group.
The San Jose development center will provide test engineering services to U.S.-based customers to assist in transitioning their new products to high-volume production in Amkor’s off-shore production facilities, and will focus on the test development of high-end digital and advanced mixed-signal devices. Several new ATE platforms are installed and several more will be installed during the first quarter of 2001. Additional test engineering resources will be added at the same time.
The Wichita development center will focus on strip-test software development. Various ATE platforms already are in place and additional platforms will be added during early 2001. As with the San Jose development center, additional test engineering resources are also being added.
