Dialog Semiconductor reports record revenues in 2000

February 21, 2001–Dusseldorf, Germany–Dialog Semiconductor Plc., a developer and supplier of mixed signal ASICs to the mobile telecommunications industry, today announced record results for fiscal year 2000 with revenues rising to EURO 214.5 million (US$195 million), an increase of 146% from EURO 87.2 million in the previous fiscal year.

Earnings before interest and taxes rose by 232% to EURO 38.4 million, compared with EURO 11.6 million in 1999. Basic earnings per share increased to EURO 0.62 in 2000 from EURO 0.16 in the previous year. The fourth quarter was Dialog Semiconductor’s strongest revenue quarter in its history with a 94% increase compared with the fourth quarter of 1999 and a further 4% increase over Q3 2000. Basic EPS rose to EURO 0.17 (only Q4 2000) from EURO 0.07 (only Q4 1999).

In addition, Dialog Semiconductor demonstrated the value of its technological expertise through the addition of four new customers. Emphasising its commitment to ongoing research and development the company reported that its R & D manpower had been increased from 76 (year end 1999) to 145 engineers (end of 2000). This reflects the company’s established strategy of expanding its wireless customer base in order to respond to the changing nature of the worldwide handset industry.
