Applied Materials receives ISO 9002 certification

April 2, 2001 – Santa Clara, CA, – Applied Materials has been awarded International Standards Organization (ISO) 9002 certification for quality assurance in its Austin Volume Manufacturing Organization. According to the company, the Austin, TX facility is the largest semiconductor equipment manufacturing operation to obtain certification.

“Receiving the ISO certification for an operation of this size and complexity shows Applied Materials’ dedication to world-class manufacturing,” said Raymond Leubner, corporate VP of volume manufacturing at Applied.

Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Applied Materials’ corporate ISO 9000 registrar, conducted the assessment. DNV verified the approach, deployment and results of the Austin volume manufacturing quality management system.

ISO 9002 is an internationally recognized standard incorporating verifiable, established procedures that lead to higher quality products and services.
